Our Story

Therapy Stars began with a simple idea: to give children and young people access to more hands-on, specialist physiotherapy, with the time and attention to focus on what matters to them and their families.

For founder Sian, that idea came from more than a decade working in paediatric physiotherapy.

Where it all began

“I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2002 and knew from the start that I wanted to work with children. In 2004, I joined a community paediatric physiotherapy team in Cheshire, where I spent more than 10 years working within the NHS.

“I loved working with children and families, particularly during my time in special schools. But as the years went on, I found I was spending less time delivering hands-on physiotherapy and more time managing the pressures around it.

“I knew I wanted to get back to the part of the job I loved most: working directly with children and families and having the time to really focus on their individual goals.”

A home for Therapy Stars

That ambition became a reality in January 2019, when the Therapy Stars clinic opened its doors and the business began to grow.

Today, Sian is joined by an experienced team of paediatric physiotherapists and support staff, working with families from across the local area and further afield. The clinic has grown alongside the team, with specialist equipment and accessible facilities helping them support people with a wide range of physical and neurological needs.

The same idea, more than a decade later

Therapy Stars looks very different today from the business Sian started from home in 2014, but the thinking behind it hasn’t changed.

It was created to give children and families more time with their physiotherapist, with treatment shaped around the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. More than a decade later, that same philosophy sits at the heart of Therapy Stars.

“I’m incredibly proud of what Therapy Stars has become. We’ve grown far beyond what I was doing on my own in those early days, but what matters most hasn’t changed. Being trusted to play a part in the journeys of the families we work with is still what makes this job so special.”

Taking the leap

After speaking to friends and colleagues, and drawing on her own experience of working with families across the area, Sian could see there was a real need for more paediatric physiotherapy provision locally. She began by taking on some associate work in private practice, which gave her the confidence to take the next step.

In 2014, Therapy Stars was born and Sian made the decision to leave the NHS, initially working from home and travelling across Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales to visit children in their homes and schools.

“There was a LOT of travelling in those early years, but having my own clinic had always been the long-term plan. I wanted to create somewhere that gave us the space and time to deliver the kind of physiotherapy I knew I wanted to offer.”
