Creating a More Accessible and Inclusive Physiotherapy Clinic

Creating a More Accessible and Inclusive Physiotherapy Clinic

When you have more complex physical needs, visiting somewhere new can come with a few extra considerations.

Will the space work for you? Is the right equipment available? How will you be supported during your appointment?

At Therapy Stars, we’ve put a lot of thought into creating a clinic that can welcome people with a wide range of physical and neurological needs.

A Clinic Designed Around the People We Support

Everyone who comes through our doors is different, and our clinic needs to reflect that.

Alongside our team’s experience, we have a range of specialist equipment that allows us to adapt therapy around the individual. This helps us support teenagers and young adults with more complex physical needs, including those with significant mobility challenges.

One important part of this is our specialist hoist.

Why Having a Hoist Matters

For those who aren’t able to transfer independently, having a hoist available can make visiting the clinic much easier.

Where needed, our team can use it to support transfers from a wheelchair onto a treatment plinth or mat. This can make the experience more comfortable, while reducing the physical demands placed on parents or carers.

It also helps our therapists manage transfers safely during sessions.

Most importantly, it means the session can be adapted around the person we’re supporting, rather than expecting them to fit around the clinic environment.

More Than Just Equipment

Creating an inclusive clinic isn’t simply about the equipment we have.

It’s about understanding individual needs and making sure families feel comfortable talking to us about them.

Our specialist equipment works alongside personalised physiotherapy and an experienced team who support people with a wide range of needs. For some families, knowing those facilities are available can offer important reassurance before they’ve even stepped through the door.

Talk to Us Before You Visit

If you or your young person needs additional support when accessing therapy, please let us know when you get in touch.

We’re always happy to talk through individual requirements before an appointment and explain how we can support you when you arrive.

Our aim is simple. We want Therapy Stars to be a place where more people can access the physiotherapy that’s right for them.
